Introduction
Are you new to the chemical industry or do you need a refresher on the existing regulatory requirements in the EU? Throughout February, Dean Winder from CIRS Europe will present a series of webinars on EU chemical regulations which could be helpful to you.
Topic 1: EU CLP, SDS, and labelling – what you need to know
This webinar will provide a general overview of the requirements for European Regulation on classification, labelling and packaging of substances and mixtures (EU CLP). Including requirements for safety data sheets (SDSs) and labels. It will also explore the most recent and future updates of the EU CLP.
Topic 2: An Introduction to EU REACH
The Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals (EU REACH) regulation has been in force since June 1, 2007. It has been the standard for chemical compliance in the EU and the template for similar regulations in other regions.
The regulation applies to all chemical substances that are placed on the EU market in quantities greater than one metric ton per year (with certain exemptions). Therefore, the regulations apply to a broad range of chemical manufacturing, importing, and trading companies working with these in-scope substances.
In this webinar, we will explore the regulation background, implementation, and nuances of the regulations. We will also cover the process of becoming compliant with the regulations.
Topic 3: An Introduction to Poison Centre Notification (PCN)
From January 1, 2021, companies that placed consumer and professional use mixtures on the EU market, which are classified as human or environmental hazards have been required to complete a poison centre notification (PCN). This is done via the harmonized notification system governed by the European Chemical Agency (ECHA).
This requirement will also apply to industrial mixtures from January 1, 2024. The PCN also provides medical professionals with sufficient knowledge about a chemical when responding to a medical emergency.
In this webinar, we will explore the regulation further, detail the information required for the submission, and provide insights from our practical experience dealing with such notifications.
