On 28 April 2016, the Ministry of Environment (MOE) of South Korea released a list of another 10 priority existing chemicals (PECs), the lead registrants of which have been elected.
Up to now, there are 179 substances have Lead Registrants (LR) of 510 PECs.
Enterprises will have to purchase LOA from the lead registrant and finish joint registration once the lead registrant of this substance has been elected.
According to MOE, manufacturers/ importers of the 510 PECs shall have to do the registration before 1 July 2018 in case the tonnage of importation/ manufacturing exceeds 1t/y, otherwise punishment will be imposed on the enterprise in accordance with Act on the Registration and Evaluation of Chemicals (K-reach). However, enterprises are still allowed to manufacture/ import the 510 PECs during the transitional period before 1 July 2018.
