China’s CFSA Collects Public Comment on Six New Food-related Products

On September 2, 2024, the China National Center for Food Safety Risk Assessment (CFSA) issued a call for public comment on six new food-related products: four food contact additives with expanded scope, one new food contact resin, and one food contact resin with expanded scope.

Comments are welcome until October 2, 2024. The details are as follows:

Food contact additives with expanded scope (four types)

  1. Polyisobutylene

Remarks

Adhesives containing this substance are intended only for contact with aqueous foods, liquid milk, and foods with an ethanol content of 50% or less. For indirect food contact, use at room temperature for filling and long-term storage (including hot filling and pasteurization under conditions of T ≤ 70°C, t ≤ 2h, or T ≤ 100°C, t ≤ 15min). For direct food contact, use under frozen or refrigerated conditions. The above usage restrictions shall be indicated in accordance with the provisions of GB 4806.1.
