Background
In 2021, Chinese authorities opened the registration channel for new food additives involving genetically modified microorganisms, known in the industry as “synthetic biology”. This move was considered a milestone breakthrough in the fields of “three new foods” in China. In 2022, the authorities issued a document aimed at bolstering the bioeconomy. At present, favorable policies supporting synthetic biology technology have been implemented across China, and it is anticipated that application channels for new food raw materials related to genetically modified microorganisms will soon be opened.
However, as early as 2021, Europe and the United States have begun to approve genetically modified food ingredients. Since then, many genetically modified food ingredients have received approval from European and American authorities. Currently, most companies dealing in genetically modified food ingredients are aiming to enter major global markets, including China, the United States, and Europe.
In order to help enterprises better understand the application of GM food raw materials in Europe, China, and the United States, CIRS is launching this webinar to introduce the application process and materials required, and share our experiences.
